Bitcoin - smart contracts, interoperability, sharding, proof-of-stake?

I am fairly knew to crypto and ever since I started learning about it, I've been learning about alt coins. There are so many projects out there with many interesting features that are attractive to potential investors. As I see it, the landscape is and will be, forever changing. My question is, where does bitcoin stand in its evolution within the space that includes the best of these alternative concepts? Once alt coins can separate themselves from the flag bearer, how will it remain on top of the heap?I know this is the trillion dollar question, but again, I'm knew to the space. via /r/CryptoCurrency https://ift.tt/2GZtB7I I am fairly knew to crypto and ever since I started learning about it, I've been learning about alt coins.
